Manufacturing firms in Nigeria now rely heavily on both local and expatriates, however the local workforce find it challenging to manage the diverse industrial setting due to individualized connections and unofficial networks above formal corporate structures, which causes conflict and lowers productivity. The purpose of this study is to review extant literature and establish the relationship between cultural intelligence, self-efficacy, and employee performance as possible mechanisms that can help enhance employee performance. Drawing from social learning theory (SLT), the study established that self-efficacy can mediate the relationship between cultural intelligence and employee performance. The originality of this study lies in complementing SLT which suggest that expectations concerning one’s ability to perform a particular behavior, i.e., cultural intelligence, and how it encompasses the expected outcomes of the particular behavior i.e employee performance.
